The news cycle score summarises a day's news about a company - or about the whole market - on a scale from -100 (very negative) to +100 (very positive). It weighs each article by how factual it is and how many people the outlet and platform reach, so one widely read factual story counts more than several small opinion pieces.
How it is calculated
Each article contributes its direction (for the company +1, against -1, neutral 0) multiplied by its weight: a factuality weight from 0.15 (very low) to 0.925 (very high) times the logarithm of the combined audience of the outlet and the platform. The weighted directions are averaged for the day and scaled to -100 ... +100.
What it is not
The score describes the tone of the news, not the value of the company, and it is not a buy or sell signal. Markets often move before the news, and widely reported news is usually already in the price.
Status
The score is being introduced gradually. Until the audience data is complete, the stock page shows 'Score coming soon'.
